B-Series PTO Belt size and gas cap

i was out cutting grass yesterday with the B-212 and about half way through cutting it decided to snap the PTO belt (the one that comes down off of the BGB) any who i tried my best to match it up with a new belt at the local hardware store and ended up buying a belt that was a bit too large, does anyone have the belt size handy? is it a belt size that'd only be able to order through my simplicity dealer? one last question folks, the gas cap/gauge is broken ( the plastic bubble) and is allowing gas to splash out and evapourate. would any of you know if these would fit? http://cgi.ebay.ca/part-GAS-FUEL-CAP-gauge-SIMPLICITY-1-1-2-x-8-171252-/390023182673?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5acf317951 http://cgi.ebay.ca/GAS-CAP-GAUGE-SIMPLICITY-LAWN-TRACTOR-8-OEM-/140420392573?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b1b5267d

I think for the B-212 You need the 36-1/4" belt ALLIS CHALMERS 2025663 However another book I have says the 37-1/4" belt ALLIS CHALMERS 2026081 is the correct one... sm00 As for the gas cap, It looks like it is the shorter one: 5-1/4" overall length, Simplicity Part # 156175 But please post you model# so I can be sure. Don't order anything using those numbers until we verify your model number.OO

That is more than likely a serial number. Allis Mfg. No. started with 202 and Simplicity was 990XXX and 169XXXX. A B212 should be a Mfg. No. or Product No. 2029950. http://www.simpletractors.com/what_fits/ac_backfit/200-300_mowers.htm http://simpletractors.com/X-reference/ac_s_pg1.htm

the I.D tag says B-212 right on it so i would assume the 2029950 number found in the cross ref. section is the correct number to go by before ordering parts...

No the caps will not work, they are way too long at 8". The correct one is Simplicity Part # 2156175SM still available at dealers. The length of one off the shelf is about 5.5" from tip of dome to the bottom of gauge. As for the PTO belt (from BGB to center PTO) the large frame B-200's originally used a 29.1" PTO belt but I switched to a 28" because my idler was rubbing the pulley on the BGB, so far its working great.

something weird is going on... the orignal belt was measured to be approximately a 29" belt. i bought a new one its 28". with the PTO in engaged position, there is enough room between the belt and the pulley that i can stick my finger between them...i just dont get it, there's really only one way you can route the belt. i think i'll just go out and buy a 26" and see how that goes... any thoughts, ideas?
