belt question.

my 6500 simplicity is a varidrive. Just put a fresh motor in it and the pedal still jumps like crazy. have adjusted per manuel. The front belt looks almost new but the rear belt is what is odd. It takes a 1669394 which is 50" x 5/8". Here is the Question. Is this a cogged belt or a smooth belt? the one that is on there is a cogged belt and there are spots where the cog's are torn off. I dont understand why they would use a cogged belt. HELP PLEASE!!!!C
