osenga 1 Posted July 13, 2010 well i have a modle 19 BS the magneto is not there no more and has a coil to it and it has the - wire on the cooil pack going to the points where does the + side go to and then i will see if I have a spark or not ? HubbardRA 19 Posted July 13, 2010 Positive side needs to have power from the battery through the ignition switch. Just to start the engine, you can hook directly to the positive battery terminal. Many Kohler engines run this type of ignition from the factory. I also have a 10 Hp B/S engine that had a bad magneto and I converted it to the battery-coil ignition. I have been running that engine without a magneto for over 20 years, and it is the easiest starting and best running B/S engine that I have. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
