Still won't work after suggestion. Belt coming from "driven" P.T.O goes in a clockwise direction and it looks like it should go the other direction to stay on the mower pulley. Please give rotation of P.T.O. pulleys left and right side. If the grass gets any higher I'll have to run over it just to keep it low. Thanks all.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 42" and 48" belt arrangements were essentially the same, as shown below in this 42" deck diagram... The center arbor pulley (driven pulley) turns counterclockwise. If you put your drive belt on the PTO, then turn it a half twist to the right(facing forward) so that the bottom of the PTO is connected to the top side of the center arbor, and the top of the PTO is connected to the left side... http://www.simpletractors.com/operation/42_mower/belt_align.jpg

Here's another diagram for the Owner's Manual for the 42". Noticeably absent from this manual is any discussion of the lever underneath the tractor that puts spring tension on the whole PTO setup. Pull the lever back to stretch the spring and preload the tension on the PTO.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/operation/42_mower/42_rotary_mower.htm'][img src='http://www.simpletractors.com/images/mower1_ops/figure3_small.jpg'][/a]
