grnlark 0 Posted July 22, 2010 How much play or side-to-side movement should there be in the front shaft of a beveled gear box for a smaller framed tractor like a 700 series or Landlord? I'm guessing there should be no play at all. If in fact there is a little bit of play, I assume the bushings can be replaced? If so, has anyone done it before and how much of a job is it? This is assuming of course that the gears are not damaged at all. Thanks, Matt
PhanDad 3,251 Posted July 22, 2010 Pretty sure a 700 is considered a large frame tractor since it has a horizontal engine and BGB. See this post for discussion of amount of play on input shaft: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=112639
