my father-inlaw did it now :D. had to go and pick up my 2110 from his house. this is what i found :O. never seen or herd of this happening. what the heck would cause this solid BGB shaft to break in the center ?. only thing i can think it must have had a stress crack. i would think the keyways would have gone first. and i drove it on the trailer when i picked it up. ive only had this tractor less than a year so who knows what the other owners did to it. here is a pic of the replacement shaft and broken shaft. That's a repetitive stress fracture, also called "fatigue failure". It happened at the narrowest cross-section of the shaft, where the rotational stress is most concentrated as the shaft absorbs the torque as the tractor accelerates, decelerates, goes back and forth. Eventually, every shaft would break like this with enough load and enough cycles and the designers try to ensure they make them big enough and with strong enough material that they outlast the rest of the machine.
