Powermax Backhoe Update

The backhoe project is in the testing stages. I've been doing some digging and I've been very pleased with its performance. Actually it does have a little more power than it should for a tractor that size and weight. If I had designed it with 2" bore cylinders instead of 2-1/2" bore, it would be under powered. Anyway, I need to stiffen the frame because it is flexing with rapid swing movements when the arms are extended. Also, the frame as designed, is not adequately fastened to the rear of the tractor with the six mounting bolts. I need to add a frame to transmit some of the axial force to the front of the tractor. I consider these to be minor problems, though, because the backhoe is doing exactly what I want it to do. It's fairly easy to add more steel to stiffen the frame. I still plan to haul the 4041 TLB to the Rhinelander picnic so let's all discuss it more when we're there. Powermax_Paul
