wilm169 1 Posted August 22, 2010 First WELCOME TO THE CLUB; They are kinda easy, take the pullies off the top, take blades off the bottom, unbolt from deck 3 or 6 bolts each, pry the two cone sections apart, that leaves the spindles with bearings to press off each end and press new back on. Then reverse
Simplicity314 0 Posted August 22, 2010 Welcome. If you're talking front wheel spindles, it's just as easy. Pull off the dust caps and that will expose a collar with an allen set screw. Take that off and you will get to the outer bearings and washers and of course the inside set behind the wheel. Here's a link to your owner's manual and illustated parts list (IPL). The mower deck breakout is towards the end of the IPL and the front wheel spindles are on p.4.: http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8.sO1rE6CGh5kbp796Dq http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCyEN8coJ3rE5CNj5kbp796Dq
steveo358 0 Posted August 22, 2010 When you say press, does this mean that i need a special tool, they just wont slide off. Do you think a puller would do this also? Thanks, Steve
wilm169 1 Posted August 23, 2010 Some times they will come off if you put the spindel in a vice loosely below the bearing and tap lightly.
