LesH 1 Posted August 24, 2010 I have a 16 HP single cylinder Kohler and a 2 cylinder Briggs engine. Both run fine-- no bad noises/ no oil burning/ start up fine. Looking to put one in my tractor. Either one would fit. What one should I install???
dentwizz 6 Posted August 24, 2010 Briggs:D Easy upkeep and of course twin powahh!
OrangeMetalGuy 20 Posted August 24, 2010 I've read that the tall single-cyl engines (like your Kohler) have more torque than the V-twins. But I don't have a V-twin so I don't know for sure.
Burntime 1 Posted August 24, 2010 Briggs. I had a 16hp kohler and a few 10's. They shake all over the place at low rpm. The briggs are just more smooth...
acfarmer 1 Posted August 25, 2010 The only knock I have on the Twin Briggs is I have seen several that knocked a valve seat loose and then it usually ends up beating the block up making it pretty much unusable, then again I run a couple that give me good service but I'm partial to the single cylinder Kohler and Briggs engines plus they burn a lot less gas.Of cours in final anaylis I like the enigne that I don't need to work on:D
LordByron 0 Posted August 28, 2010 I'll take that Kohler single 16 any day over the twin. TORQUE!!!!!
xenon172 0 Posted August 29, 2010 The Briggs is smoother but there is something that I like about a 16 hp single. It really comes down to what you like.
