is there spark when you pull the spark plug out and look at the spark plug when you crank it over? no fire w/ starting fluid would make me think you have no spark... or the points arent timed right here are a couple links that might help http://simpletractors.com/service/kohler_electrics.htm http://simpletractors.com/club2/portal_External.asp?LinkID=7&LinkName=Electrical%20System%20Ramblings&CatID=30&CatTitle=Electrical&URL=http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7401

yes I have spark and it is like 3/8 to 1/2 jump on it and points are set at .20 plus I have pulled a coil from another runng one to try that too and still nota think what is odd to me it dont even to get to where you can hear it want to fire up

after cranking does the plug look wet when you pull it out ?......if so, and you have good fire you might check compression and/or crank speed....

you say it has 3/8 to 1/2 inch jump of spark. Does the spark plug have the spark or are you holding the wire to the block? If the plug is wet, I'm thinking you have a bad spark plug

Put your hand on the carb when the engine is cranking. If it has a vacuum then the intake valve is not stuck open. Then put a dollar bill over the exhaust when cranking. You should see the pressure blow the dollar away from the exhaust. If you see the dollar get sucked onto the exhaust then the exhaust valve is either sticking or burned badly.
