Sunstar oil cooler cleaning = help

Recommended Posts

Well my sunstar has started to overheat. Tried to clean out big round cooler, right behind the engine, in front of the battery. I can not get at it to blow out the fins without taking half the tractor apart. Is there a trick to blowing out the coolimg fins. Thank you. P.S. Also looking for a 60" mowing deck for my sunstar.

Where the driveshaft enters the fan housing there is a removable plate that allows access for service of the front u-joint. If you remove that you can blow air from the bottom up. This works pretty well as the normal airflow through the trans cooler is from the top down. If you're running a Kohler, those engine shrouds get plugged up pretty fast and solid. You may want to check that as well.
