ewittersheim 0 Posted August 30, 2010 I have a 5216H that the starter seems to have gone bad. When I turn the key I hear the starter motor spin but it does not turn over the motor. I can't seem to find the starter online. I do find solenoids but I'm not sure if this is what I need. I don't see it in any of the online diagrams either. Any help would be great. Oz 1 Posted August 31, 2010 Does it have plastic gears? If so, they could be stripped. Generaly cheap to buy, and not all that difficult to replace. Just my two cents worth. Oz
goatfarmer 817 Posted August 31, 2010 Like the great Oz sez, it's probably a stripped starter drive. Any small engine dealer should have that.
ewittersheim 0 Posted September 1, 2010 Yep, that is what it is. I will look around and see if I can find a starter drive. Thanks to both of you for your input. On that note, what is the trick to pull the starter drive off? There is a metal clasp on the top that I couldn't seem to pull it off easily. I am worried that I am going to break it. Is this something that gets replaced with a new starter drive?
