striping an allis?

OK, I am in the midst of sanding and painting my 917H. I am kicking around the idea of painting a double stripe on the hood and maybe the fender deck. I think I would use a double white stripe on the hood, (I would guess about a double 2-1/2" separated by 1/2" or so) and don't know about the fender deck yet. I think I mask with blue tape and paint the stripes. Thoughts on the concept or the procedure?

I second that. The time saved applying decals will offset their cost.

Thanks for the replies. Ardisam, that is a smooth looking 917. I hope my 917 turned 916-HB looks as good as that when I am through. Yep decals would work great. I am not aware of decals in the size I am thinking about. I am thinking about stripes down the center of the hood, just for a little panache. I may paint it (orange) and do a mockup with white paper stripes, just to see if I like it.

I actually like the looks of the old 101's. They have an offset stripe on the hood as well as the "101" in outline on the hood as well. A "916-HB" with an offset stripe would look kinda neat on your hood imho. I agree to the mock up first.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
