Ugly B snags a rock

We have had a large rock in our front yard that was left by the developer when the street was put in many years ago. Today we decided to see if Ugly B and the ARK600 loader were up to the task of moving the rock. We were able to angle the forks and slide under the rock to roll it out of the hole it was sitting in.

On the second jab with the forks, we were able to pick the rock up and haul it away.

I am estimating the rock weighs a good 500 pounds. (20 x 20 x 19 inches). Even with the rear counterweight, traction on the rear wheels was marginal. Grandson, Johnny handled the operating chores. This project definetely falls into the same catagory as the old saying; "Everything looks like a nail to a man with a new hammer"!!! John U

Did the supervisor and operator see eye to eye on how to properly remove this rock? I'll have to get up to your place before the snow flies to see ugly B in person.

The conflict between the operator and the supervisor came in when Ugly B got stuck in a sink hole in the back yard, due to lack of traction on the rear tires. 150 pounds of counterweight doesn't cut it against a 500 pound rock! Luckily we had Gertrude, with the big AG tires to come to the rescue! John U

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
