Sickle Mower pitman arm bolts

Recommended Posts

SmilinSam
On my second trial run yesterday, both threadlocked bolts came looseC. Which of course, led to the cutter bar getting broke in half at one of the drive bracket bolt holes.XX( Seems I had one of these mowers in the past that was giving me fits with loosening pitman bolts, but I cant quite remember what I did. I think I welded the bolt heads to the brackets and used a bolt long enough to double nut. Anyone ever tried this fix?

It should also be noted that you should use high grade bolts with nylon inserts OR Self-locking nuts. Torque to specified amount under universal torque chart.

Not on this mower. Didnt have any, so had to use bronze. Thinkin about switchin to 1/2" bolts and eliminating the bushings all together. Think that would help?
