For once I didn't have to go far...

This one was in a high schooler's collection nearby. I missed the B-110 he had listed for $125 but got this one with variable for $165. It was claimed that the engine ran and the electrical system needed redoing. After setting the governor springs where they should be(didnt have any) and redoing the cables and fuel routing, it runs! Unfortunately I got it all ready and wet-sanded tonight and found I was out of tractor gas. Oh well. Tomorrow I will go get the bolts and nuts to begin rebuilding the seat upholstery. Is there any reason I couldn't run a 2210 simplicity style pto on it to run my simpy mower and sickle?

Good Find! There are many differences in the PTO's. If you can just change out the portion that swings and find a way to retain you 200' series engagement levver you might be able to make a go of it. The 2210 was a short wheelbase tractor and its engagment parts will be too short for the longer frame tractor.

That was sorta what I was thinking. In fact I have the 2210 pto minus the rod/lever so yeah it ends up being that :D I'll have to give it a go tomorrow.

Observant;) The tank is actually red and quarter-turn capped. I assume its a wheel-horse tank. Anybody have a B series tank? Hint hint...

I'm curious about Chris's comment about the PTO differences and attachment use. I'm aware there were different "styles" and the parts aren't necessarily interchangeable between the "styles". But I thought all the PTOs mounted at the same location relative to the front of the tractor where the attachments mount (just under the BGB). The longer wheelbase tractors had longer rear side plates which allowed the longer 48" decks to fit without hitting the rear wheels. With the correct length belt from the PTO to the implement, I would think all front mounted attachments would work (except for the issue of the double v belt used on some setups). Please report back your experience in getting the 2210 attachments to work. Thanks. PS - Great pickup for your fleet.

Update: I swapped pto's today. The units were interchangeable other than the PO(someone along the way) had mangled the actuator and guard too far to allow operation. I will be reconstructing that portion over the weekend probably. At least I still have the raw stock from the last one I reconstructed(on my nice one). Overall I am highly surprised how easy this one has been. New muffler and spark plug, new air filter, new battery. Swapped PTO, tuned carb and tweaked the brake and Variable linkages. Now runs and drives decently. Doesn't smoke even! yay.
