Electric lift motor.

They can sometimes be rebuilt. I my local Napa was able to get me the new brushes for mine and I soldered them in. Cleaned and re-greased the unit and it worked great. If memory serves me, the two wires from the motor just get reversed to run the opposite way. The case does not get grounded. Dan

Thanks for the responses. I have two of the lift arms with defective motors and would like to repair what I have or find just the motor if possible. I contacted Sandy Lake and was told replacement motors are no longer available so I guess I'm in repair mode now.

Look through these items that I looked up in a search. Saginaw Thomson Gear is the manufacture. I believe Thedaddycat contact them to see about parts. Just because Simplicity doesn`t stock or carry the part any longer doesn`t mean the original manufacture doesn`t still make parts. Those old antique satellite dishes from the 80`s have those actuators that look very similar to the electric lifts on them as well. They look to be nearly the same I have also seen the RV industry use them as well but those are probably a Chinese knock off. Type in Saginaw in the link below. http://simpletractors.com/club2/search.asp?sectionid=4 http://simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=14661&SearchTerms=saginaw http://www.tvantenna.com/products/commercial/reception/satellite/actuators.html

Parts are still available from Thompson/Danaher Motion. The catalog is here: http://www.thomsonlinear.com/website/com/eng/download/document/200608_12_Linear_Actuators.pdf
