Sundstrand maintenance question

I changed the filter and fluid a few days ago. Warmed it up good before draining it. Filled the filter before installing it. The total amount of Dexron used was just over 1.5 quarts, just over half the 96 oz. the specs say it takes. It's working fine but I wonder... Does the pump and motor hold over a quart that wont drain? Just curious.

Just did my AC712 and mine took 3 Qt's.

Theres a little spring loaded vent on the side of the transmission I usually end up holding open with my fingers to drain and fill the tranny. I usually get 3 quarts + when I drain one.

You also need to hold that vent up when you refill, so that all the air gets out.
