BLT 708 Posted October 1, 2010 Does it have a regulator?
dentwizz 6 Posted October 1, 2010 Is there a fuse or breaker in the system? Also, check for breaks in wire insulation where it can rub sheet metal edges.
olf20 0 Posted October 2, 2010 We fix lots of these in our shop. 99% of the time its the regulator. We first check the output of the stator under the flywheel. It should be 28 - 32 volts AC at full throttle. Yellow plug with two spade connectors. Check voltage between the two. Next red wire that is hooked to the regulator should have 12 volts on it with the key on. If all the above checks out. Change the regulator. Hope this helps!! olf20 / Bob
Les 4 Posted November 1, 2010 Thanks for the help. Ordered a new Oregon voltage regulator for $39.48 and it charges fine now. I figure the Oregon part cant be any worse than the original Briggs part! About half the price.
