smoking breather and stop pin ?'s

Recommended Posts

When I was mowing this weekend, my 1982 Simplicity 7112 seemed to be blowing more smoke out of the breather(?) on the left side of the engine than out of the muffler. Any thoughts as to why? Also the stop pin (I think that what it was called in my engine manual) behind the governor arm is sticking out about a half an inch-should this be screwed all the way in? Why would it be half way out? What does it do? The engine is running pretty good lately, I don't want to do anything that will screw it up. Any help is appreciated

Yes the pin/screw should be in tight & this may likely be the cause of your excess vapors too. If it draws air in past the loose screw it will blow it back out the breather. Also check the front crank seal-a common place for a suction air leak & excess breather flow. Bill
