Snowblower Lift Rod

Hello - I just picked up a package containing a 5116,4212H,4211 & snowblower 1690547. All run and have decks. The blower is for the 5116 but I am missing the lift rod. Is there any reason I could'nt fabricate one? I've looked and can't seem to find an oem without paying an arm and a leg. Thoughts? Thanks!

Made a few myself. Makes it easier if you can borrow one to copy, or get a good scketch of angles and distances. Bar stock from Lowes, or other, fire wrench (torch) to soften, vise and hammer to bend. gloves to keep bare skin from hot Steel :D
