Is this dethatcher/revitalizer worth $40 (sellers asking price) and will it work on my 1964 landlord? The blades are worth more than the asking price. It won`t work or yours it is for a small frame. You need a 990688. I would buy for the blades since they are NLA and when you find the correct one you will have some spare blades. http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=heCBEN8cuOZrE3CSl5kbp796Dq

That has an interesting color scheme on it - was it repainted? I have some spare blades that are white, but figured they were either A/C or Homelite parts seeing how they were not Simplicity orange. I have one of those, but can't remeber if it is the early or late version, but it is all orange. Tim

They definitely leave a path of thick thatch behind, and can be set deep enough to leave the soil ready for seed. They do the job they are purported to do, there is no question there. Probably a bit pricey for a thatcher would be my guess as to why they don't make them for residential anymore.
