rpickle 0 Posted October 16, 2010 The left rear axle has a lever with a spring attached. what is it for? This on my 3212v. Thanks Rick
toomanytractors 0 Posted October 16, 2010 That lever is to tighten the cross drive belt after installation.
D10-Allis 24 Posted October 16, 2010 This lets the mid PTO pivot forward, loop the mower belt, or sickle mower belt on the pulley and pull lever back towards the rear, helps to install belts I believe.
Brettw 1,015 Posted October 16, 2010 I believe the lever you speak of is to tighten the idler pulley against the belt for the mower deck, and perhaps other equipment driven from the center PTO.
dentwizz 6 Posted October 17, 2010 The earlier models didn't have it, but the increased horsepower required a bit more tension on the cross-drive belt to deal with pulley slip. It is possible to change a belt without releasing it, but it is certainly easier when it is slack.
rpickle 0 Posted October 17, 2010 OK, so it sounds like it should be "cocked" while in a running state and released to aid in belt removal. Appreciate the replies. Rick
