deck rollers

Well, I've about had it with these deck rollers. I've got an old 3-piece deck on a 725 and the rollers are all hollered out along with the roller shaft. I've got a lot of side-to-side slop and I think I'm not able to raise the deck as high as it could go. You'd think that the folks at Simplicity would have planned for some longevity issues down the road. I'm thinking of either fitting them with bronze bushings or ball bearings. Any thoughts?

I have considered ball bearings, myself, and that will be a close to first project for a lathe if I get lucky enough to find one. I have even considered using extra heavy pipe in lieu of the OEM roller material, or maybe a hard nylon, at least
