Repairing Sunstar Ross Hydraguide steering valve

Recommended Posts

logcruiser
My steering has been leaking for some time but this weekend it has become unusable. I have lots of projects to get done before snow and also this is the plow tractor. Is it possible to just reseal the top without taking the entire valve apart or will I need to reseal the whole thing? Also where can I get the parts or kits? Thanks, Mike

The Sunstar parts manual has a breakdown illustration. Also there are several parts kits for repairing the Hydraguide unit. I would assume they are mostly still available from Simplicity. You can check at Jack's Small Engine for availability.

thanks for the link and the helpful information.... still wondering if it is possible to just remove the top and replace the seal? Has anyone been able to do that?

The top comes off by loosening the four bolts. We are talking about a four sided valve, that is made up of a series of plates stcked in top of each other? If so there is no seal under the top plate
