Update: Slipping Deck Belt

Recommended Posts

JayM
I've solved my slipping belt problem on the 48" deck (original post on this was MsgID: 4051). Pulled the deck off today to recheck spindles, etc., and found one of the PTO pulleys had seized up (the flat one the back side of the belt runs on). Since I was running over to the local Simplicity dealer to pick up a trimmer in for repairs, I asked about the pulley and he had one in stock. Took longer to remount the deck than to swap the pulley. Just gave it a short trial run and it's humming like it oughta! Two morals to the story for me: 1) ALWAYS diligently check EVERY component EVERY time an attachment comes on or off the tractor. (How'd I miss something so obvious?). 2) This site perpetually amazes me with the knowledge, experience, insights, and members' willingness to share all that. Thanks for all the tips in response to my original post! Jay M
