How to Post Pictures – Tutorial

Recommended Posts

Photos really make it easier to identify a problem, and are just plain fun to view (Isn’t there an old Chinese expression about 1000 words ?). However, several club members seem to have a problem uploading photos with their messages. I was going to write a tutorial regarding how to post a picture. But then I thought, why reinvent the wheel..? Ebay has a great tutorial on the subject (see link below). If anyone has a question after reading the eBay tutorial, I’ll be happy to try and answer them.[A href='http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/phototut-1.html']http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/phototut-1.html[/a]

I know there must be others out there but I used www.homestead.com for my first personal web site.It was very easy to do with their guidance and free!Kind of fun too and a good place to host your pics for others to view.Hope to be able to work more with my site as time allows.Makes me apreciate the time Kent has spent on this site.I think he has done a great job.I know I like the disscussion forum better when pictures are added.

I run a web server at work that will be up and running for a long time. If folks have one-off pictures they need hosted, I'd be happy to do it. If you email me the picture, I'll email back with the URL to use. I don't want to get into hosting loads of pictures per person, but a few each would be fine. If you do email it to me, please name the file as follows so I can track it: file name.extention. So, one of mine might be jl716H.jpg with jl being my initials, 716h the name of the item (model number in this case) followed by the file extension. I've been hosting photos for some friends, and wouldn't mind doing it for the club as well. Typically, web photos look good at 72dpi, with jpeg compression set to "6" in PhotoShop. Not sure what the settings would look like in other graphics programs.[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]

... Homestead.com was easy to use. I hit the wall a few times on the learning curve, but, all considered it's simple. My page took about an hour to do ( I type slow ! ) I also reduced the images for a faster load and space consierations. My next try will be some action shots complete with unretouched grass gore covered images of my tractor ! [A href='http://dadsy.homestead.com/home.html']http://dadsy.homestead.com/home.html[/a]

That's so cool you got a great deal on that tractor. I'm still amazed at how much grass my 716H will cut quickly. The Ford LT110 I have has an 11HP motor with a 42" deck and won't cut anywhere nearly as fast. The 716 does all my grass in about 1/3 the time, really overkill for the size area I have. I'm keeping my eyes out for more AC lawn tractors because my folks (on both sides of the marriage) insist on buying $700 Murray tractors that last all of two years. An AC or Simplicity would last them for years.[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]
