I normally don't do this, but this one really stuck me..... ___________________________________________________________ Let's see if I understand how America works lately... If a woman burns her thighs on the hot coffee she was holding in her lap while driving, she blames the restaurant. If your teen-age son kills himself, you blame the rock 'n' roll music or musician he liked. If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of lung cancer, your family blames the tobacco company. If your daughter gets pregnant by the football captain you blame the school for poor sex education. If your neighbor crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, you blame the bartender. If your cousin gets AIDS because the needle he used to shoot heroin was dirty, you blame the government for not providing clean ones. If your grandchildren are brats without manners, you blame television. If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, you blame the gun manufacturer. And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilots at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, the mother of the deceased blames the airline. I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore. So if I die while my old, wrinkled butt is parked in front of this computer, I want you to blame Bill Gates, OK?

Not to get really deep or anything, but think about how many times we are told we aren't responsible for anything. How often is it that we are supposed to "just do it" and not worry about the consequences. I'm a computer/network tech by trade, and am fascinated by how people get upset when kids do things with computers in schools they shouldn't (like hacking, going to porn sites....) and they want me to make the network "safe" so kids can't do that, instead of them just watching their kids. I'll walk into a classroom and the teacher totally ignores kids while they are on PC's doing whatever they want. How does this teach responsible behavior? I remember hearing from lots of older folk how back in the 50's, you didn't mess with teachers, you didn't talk back to them. Now? A lot of teachers are jokes, taking all sorts of guff from kids, and letting them get away with it. When I have kids, if they are hassled by teachers in school, I'll deal with it. Likewise, if my kids act up in school and are punished for it, I won't try to make excuses for it. People have to know there are consequences to their actions. All religious views aside, there are powerful forces at work in the world bent on destroying the family unit, and so far, they seem to be succeeding, and people are just turning a blind eye to it. Think I've rambled on long enough :-) Jeremy p.s. because I'm around schools so much, discipline is a sore spot with me.[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]

I'd be line for the last one to defend school teacher as are, cuz I have long felt if the kids can't do smimple math at high school level somebody should not be getting paid. I must say however, after serving 3 years on our local school boaard I now put a lot less blame on the teachers, for one, they been thought not to teach with all this self estem crap used to replace self pride and worth, but mainly, if the school system dares to punish one of "THE CHILDREN" the parents come all unglued and the 'case goes to the school board...on and on andon. When I was a kid, I behaved in school cuz when my dad got word of me mouthin off, the schools punishment was a party, now, enter child abuse BS. Your post is sad but true Kent, I starting to believe America s problem is lookin back at us in the miror. Think is was George Wash. said when a people can vote themself free money this republic WILL fail.. MPH

America is suffering these days from a real lack of genuine leadership. The kind of leadership that was ingrained into many who came form the one room schoolhouses of yesterday. The kind of leadership which was born at home within the familly. Leadership that was reinforced in the churches, the schoolhouses, and within the small communities across America. Leadership that came from a time in America when people worked together, prayed together, laughed together, and cried together. Our nations history is rich with such people, and red with thier blood of sacrifice- Sacrifice which this generation can all but comprehend. The call for real leadership is ringing loud these days, in polotics, in the churches, in the schools, and elsewhere, but few are answering the call. A sense of complacency and apathy is bleeding us as a Nation. We stand back while the few who are good are destroyed by minor mistakes of their past, while the unrepentent are elevated to the highest ranks. We need leaders at every level that will stand for something, speak out for, and lead this nation in the right direction, towards freedom and the common good, whether it is the popular thing or not. Leaders who are not worried about re-election. Enough of the socialist redistribution of weath ideas and laws. Get back on the American Dream where if you work hard you can prosper and enjoy it, without bein forced to support those who won't work. We need leadership that will subdue the aristocracy of lawyers and their underhanded manipulation of the Constitution of the United States, our laws, and our citizens, their businesses and very livlihoods through the fear of lawsuits. Leadership that will see True justice carried out, where citizens across this nation have the verified right to protect themselves, and see the criminals fear for being PUNISHED. I remember the last day of 3rd grade when the teacher asked what each of us was going to be when we grew up. Lincoln, being my hero, I replied President of the United States. Wile much has changed since then, in my life and in the Country, I still hold to the belief that this is possible, not only for me, but the countless other "simple" people who are the real ones that make this Nation strong by leading a simple just life, if not in the eyes of men maybe in the eyes of God. Our Nations founders were not perfect nor are we here in this time perfect. But perfection is not whats needed to fix our Nation. We need a dedication to the premise of being and remaining free. The premise of each citizen being endowed with the right and responsibility to provide for themselves and to be responsible for their own actions, and finally the premise that government is only to be a framework to allow the citizens to have such freedom and responsibility. Government should not do anything to take that freedom or responsibility away. That is more than I have written for a long, long time........... sorry for trying to cover so much with so little............ Sam

It's like this Sam. The majority of your fellow citizens are STUPID. A good friend told me this many years ago during a political discussion. It has taken me awhile to accept it. I don't like it, but it helps me understand the current state of affairs. Stupidity is by no means limited to the citizens of these United States. It is world wide.

Dave, you are hitting near to the root of the problem. It is a historical fact that all societies that have played fast and loose with the marriage bed and stable family life are now merely footnotes on the pages of history. Tom
