Replacement fuel connection for gas tank on 716H?

Anyone know if the rubber grommet and metal nipple that the fuel line connects to on the plastic gas tank on my 716H is available seperately? When pulling the tank out, I bumped the fuel line and the grommet popped out dumping gas everywhere. Someone had tried to seal it up with silicone sometime in the past, and didn't do a good job.[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]

Took a look in my parts book for Sovereign/900 series tractors. There is a sepperate piece for both the bushing, and the fitting that goes into the tank. They are part #'s 1654930(bushing), and 1664460(fitting). The fuel tanks on these units have not changed much over the years...so these may be just what you need. At any rate, double check with your dealer. Hope I've been some help. GordU

As usual, thanks for the snappy reply! This is truly a wonderful website! Normally, what kind of life span do these grommets have? Is this something I should change out every couple of years?[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]

If the grommet is like the one on my 93 model, it is a standard one that goes into a 1/2" hole. My local hardware store has them, complete with metal fitting, in the mower parts section. Snowmobile shops would also carry them. If your metal thingy is messed up, you can just drop a rubber pickup line off the fitting that comes with the generic grommet. Oh yeah, silicone is not gas-resistant. -Don
