What's correct setting for mower deck angle?

On my AC 716H, there are two clevis pins at the front that I assume adjust the angle of the mower deck. When the deck is at cutting height, it slopes to the back a bit. The deck should be flat or slanted slightly forward, no? I'm also curious why there are no rollers on the front of the deck to keep scalping from happening when you go over a small rise.[A href='http://www.wheatfarm.com']http://www.wheatfarm.com[/a]

Your mower blades should be 1/8-1/4 inch higher in the front than in the back. Do this by adjusting on the bails at the front of the mower (which attatches to the axle), when your mower is set at the highest cutting position. Also, make sure you measure the blades, not the deck, and that everything is level first. Hope your enjoying your tractor. As far as the scalping issue is concerned, because the mower is attached to the axle, it follows it over bumps, and through dips without scalping. In other words, the front wheels of the tractor act as the 'anti scalp' wheels on many other mower decks. By the way, how's it compare to the others you have...especially with mowing quality? Hope it makes sense. GordU
