The ad for a 64 Simplicity Landlord says it has a "Softpurr muffler" is this the Briggs and Stratton muffler (P/N please) or was the Simplicity Landlord equiped with a quieter muffler than B&S had?

Most of the Simplicity tractors probably used a “premium” or custom muffler (the original mufflers on my ‘70s tractors were made by Nelson). When new, they may have been quieter than the generic mufflers. “Softpurr”? Sounds like it could be a touch of advertising hype. But, noise could have been judged differently back in the ‘60s. The old single cylinder flathead engines are just noisier than today’s OHV twins. The original muffler for your tractor may still be available. I don’t have a manual for that tractor, so I can’t help you with a P/N. Have you checked out the “Super Trapp” mufflers sold by Jack’s (see link below)..? I’d like to read a first hand report from a user. I don’t want to spend close to $100 to find out for myself. That’s why I use $10 generic mufflers.[A href='http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Quietmuf_index.html']http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Quietmuf_index.html[/a]
