Storm of the Century

The Meteorologists were touting this as the "storm of the century" but it fell a little short. Had around 8-9 inches here with lots of blowing, they had originally called for 16-24. Still supposed to get another 1 to 4. Drifts are over 1 foot. Had to use the blower around the sidewalks.

Blower is not self propelled, does great up to about 10." Anything beyond that and its a pain to push.

The B110 wanted to slip on the unplowed drive, even with 170 lbs on the rear with chains. Need to adjust the diff.

Piled the snowbank as far back as I could but still ended up with a good pile 2+ ft deep.

Overall the team did well. I think I had close to 2hrs seat/walk time.

I had some 2 link but it turns out they didn't fit the 23" tires like I had thought. Too late to order new ones for this storm. A blower tractor is in the works for next year. Last few years we didn't only had about 3" of snow at most.

Don't think your going to put enough wt and chains on to drive through unplowed snow. At that dept your front axle is action as a blade.

I will have to pictures of this. I have new drifts pushing 5ft in the yard. I have not looked at the driveway or my path to get my 7117 out. It could be a long day of blowing snow.

weather: 3 humans: 1 my dad got stuck two times on the way to work before giving up and coming home. i had to drive a mile and a half in the tractor above in order to get him moving again. i could not see out the window because of the snow and wind. then we got abushed by a guy who wanted to be plowed out. so we helped him and he followed our tracks back to our house, and then he continued on to a walmart to find shelter. then my dad drove to work on a snowmobile despite me telling him not to go alone:(! i finaly went to sleep at 3

Aaron, what model tractor is that with the blower? Looks like a 7400 or 7410 from what I can see. Everything I plowed yesterday has re-drifted to depths around 20." At some point I'll have to tackle it again.

Chris, its a 6400 with a 640 loader and i think its an American Manufacturing snowblower. the pictures i posted before are now dwarfed by the 8 foot drifts that have taken over.

Did pretty good today with the Broadmoor 717 with the snowthrower in about 13 inches. Ran that tractor for about 5 1/2 hours on three tanks of gas. Had to blow my 600 foot driveway and the 2/10 mile road out to the county road, and two neighbors driveways. Usually the neighbor does the other neighbors driveways and the road to the county road but his 4X4 Kubota couldn't get up his hill due to the one inch of ice under our snow here in Troy, MO. Gotta love it when a 60's tractor out does a new one.

A few after pictures of my driveway I snow blow with the 717 Broadmoor leading up to the main road to our housing main road. Usually I use the bigger Ford tractor with the rear blade but the barn doors were froze and there was too much ice with no chains on the Ford. I could just get the 717 out the side walk out garage door by 1/2" on each side of the rear wheels. If you look you can see the top of our hill, I had to go another 1000 or so more feet past the top of the hill to get to the main county road.

Yep Kris, you've got quite the driveway there. Looks like the Broadmoor does a great job. Lucky for me I only have to do the concrete drive by the house. One of the neighbors cleans the gravel road with a larger tractor. I wouldn't mind doing our whole road if I had a cab & blower. I think snow removal might be already figured into our road dues.
