Industry standard is 500 hours per cylinder for 1000 on a twin. I would think if taken care of very well you might see 1500 from a kt17 but that is just a guess. The most I have ever seen on a kt17 was 1250 or so and it was blown up. (it had a hours meter and most don't). Bob

Mine is a 1992 and the head gasket and valves were done. I use it year round and put at least 50 hours a year easy... Had mine since 2001 so I put an easy 500 on it. No oil consumption. It puffs at startup and thats it...
