OK this one is for the briggs ppl. on my Big Ten I am tring to figure out from out I have been told the first 2 numbers of the model # and divide that in 2 that tell you its HP. So the question is on my Big Ten my model # is 24##### i just recall them dont have the rest on hand and was thinking is was a 12hp And read another post on here just a few minutes ago and it said one with the model # 24#### was a 10hp now i am really lost and would like to know if i have the original motor in it or not

The first two numbers refer to the cubic inch displacement. HP will vary depending upon what they wanted to advertise and other factors. Here is a good chart on identifying what you have. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28709 Your Big Ten is the equivilant of the Simplicity Landlord 101 and the motor specs should be very close if not the same. 24 is the CID of the engine and it has always been rated at 10 HP. The remaining four numbers are design variations of the engine. No calculations are required.;)

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
