That flywheel should have been balanced originally from the factory, you go drilling holes in it you are going to put it off balance and have a good vibration in that motor when you get it to run.

Hello, I am unclear here myself, (not too unusualdz). Is the original question to get rid of the 23d flywheel and replace it with a flywheel from a newer style engine; one that uses a two leg coil. The two holes would be drilled on the back plate where the old three leg coil was located?? If that is indeed what you are asking, then I think it was recently done in another post. jh

Someone on the boards here took a flywheel from a 243431 10 hp engine and retrofitted a Magnetron coil onto a 23D. Here, http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=114077&SearchTerms=243431

Thanks for the nod|) It is a very simple fix/swap. Just get a flywheel from a newer 10hp and the coil and it's mount. The block is drilled how it needs to be for the newer coil mount(same one used up to 16hp), so you just need the newer parts. The flywheel is a direct mount to the shaft with no modification whatsoever. The 243431 was a direct descendent of the 23D as far as the block is concerned. Are you referring to the holes where the driveshaft coupler mounts to the flywheel? If so, you should have the compatible holes on the flywheel already.

I had a little bit of a show and tell posting back in nov/dec I think. In the spring if the budget permits, the B-210 is still on points/breaker;) Perhaps this week I can get out through the mud (the snow is melting:D ) to get some comparison pics of the parts involved if you guys have any specific questions not answered in the show and tell.

http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=113800 I didn't get a before pic of the 3-leg coil. Oh well, but it could be also assumed that we who are watching know what it looks like already!:p I will say as a warning with the mount swap, while it is easy to swap and simple to do make sure you keep the silhouettes of the old mount(on the block) and new mount in line with each other as these determine spark timing.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
