basic carb question

Does engine "flood" or does the plug "foul"? The engine flooding will not be corrected by a plug change.... A plug that atarts to foul after a long period of stable running is caused by a change in operation. Either the fuel mixture (float, mixture screw) has been changed or the mechanical condition has been compromised...ie rings/guides. Either way the engine/plug is now running too cool to keep it clean and the plug change has removed the symptom but not cured anything. An ignition/spark problem is a second area of failing that can cause plug fouling.
