Garden tractor size Manure Spreader by Country MFG. 25 Bushel ground drive. Uses same front 16x6.50x8 tires as our garden tractors. Shipped by freight to local business with fork lift and loading dock, the spreader was $899 + $110 Freight for a total of $1009.00. Cheapest one out there I could find in this size. The next cheapest was an all metal one with tall tires that starts around $1600.

Beater drives by a belt that engages with a lever on opposite side. Theres no idler opully on there, it just rubs the back side of the belt. I have an idler that would slide on that rod if I get a bushing to go from 5/8 to 1/2.

This is the side with the engagement lever. The spring tension=ed over the center catch at the rear is the engagemet for the drag chain in the bed.

I also added a few small engineering changes. The crossbar at the back they said to center puch the tube it slides into. I chose to drill holes through and use cotter pins to hold it in place. I also drilled some holes in the rear, center and rear supports to add a screw to each location on the top side boards, just to keep everything form bouncing around over rough ground. Have to wait for it to dry out to give it a try. Be a few weeks it looks like. Heres a you tube videop of someone else using one of these... Now what I would really like to see is a garden tractor size round hay baler. The only one I have seen is made for BCS walk behind tractors, and the price of the baler and tractor is like $7500 +++. Thats plain crazy SH##!. For that kind of money I could go buy a full size Allis D-17, AC sickle mower, International Square Baler, Hay Rake, Bale elevator, hayrack, ... and still have money left over.. Heres one of those BCS outfits on you tube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMK3O00Fyo0&feature=related

Quite nice looking and practical rig Sam. My experience w/old farm spreaders was to load about 1/2 load & and get along OK; full load it and I'd have to fork it off b/c of chain break or something. Should work well in combo with your loader tractor. See you in July.

Wow Sam, that BCS baler is way too cool. Wonder how much just the baler is. When I was a kid we had a neighbor who had an AC round baler, I think a powermax could handle one of those.

Nice manure spreader Sam, I have the same manure spreader....works good. Works better with a dry load and takes a while to unload in the garden.I use my AC B-12 with loader to load up the spreader. I bought my used 6 years ago. Karl

Dang Marty, just found a current price list for the BCS stuff. Baler currently lists for $9200 without the tractor or any additional accesories for itXX( Total shame they are not more affordable, as it would be just right for what I have for grass and hay area to go around the trees I have all over the place.
