Want to go from the gull type blades # 1679711 to flat gator blades on my 42 deck #1691218. If i remember right the flat type blades just require the different washer sets and dont use the flanged washer the gull ones use ...Correct?

Sam, You are correct. Here's a pic of the two types of splined washers:

The one on the left is for the gull wing blade; the one on the right is for the flat blade, it's part #1656927. There's also a small centering collar that was used on some of the flat blades, it's part #1672132. The arbors that use the collars have the splines ground down at the blade mounting location and the collar makes for full contact. On most of the arbors I've seen without them, the splines get worn down and then the blade isn't centered perfectly since it's a sloppy fit. I think that's why Simplicity went to the shouldered splined washers on the newer gull wing decks. I believe the part number you listed is the splined washer for the gull wing blades (the 42" gull wing blade is part #1679917). I run the flat blades on my "gull wing deck" when I want to pick up about 1/2" increased mowing height in the hottest part of summer.
