Boney Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Just did my first carberator rebuild on my 725. It is running better but it backfires when going from full throttle to idle, and it still leaks gas at the bottom between the carb and the air filter support/neck. Does anyone have any suggestions as to remidies to either of these problems ? thnx for any help
robob Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 If it back fires your probably running lean you'll have to adjust the high speed needle [the one on the bottom of the bowl]turn it out slowly little by little running up the RPM after each adjustment untill acelleration is smooth. Our if the leak is a drip -drip and not just residue then you may have a saturated float or float hang up or set to high. You may have to go back in and check the float level and whether fuel has gotten into it.
perry Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 do what rob suggest and also double check the points gap/clean and both intake gaskets.
Boney Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Thnx for the great info, I adjusted/cleaned the points and that made a difference for the better. Now I work on the carburetor suggestions, thnx :)
