Is 400 hours a lot for a tractor? My wonderful wife bought me a beautiful JD lawn tractor this weekend. Her mother just bought a house and it was sitting in the shed. My mother in law will ahve a lawn service do ehr lawn so asked my wife if she wanted to buy it for me. I know my wife paid her quite a bit for it, its in perfect condition and runs like a dream, the only drawback is the 400 hours. Its a 2005 L110... Thoughts?

400 hours isn`t that many. It is how well it was maintained in that 400 hour period.

Is it an aluminum Briggs? I think I remember seeing somewhere the single cylinder Briggs had a suggested TBO of 500 hrs. At 25 hours a year that is 20 years of service.

I thought that John Deeres all had them Polish engines in them... You know, Kolwaskis! Man! I would hold on to that wife! Hard to believe that a wife would actually buy a guy a tractor! My wife makes me get rid of them!!!!

For our old tractors 400 hours is nothing but on the newer tractors, especially ones with the k46 hydro, the transmission will probably be on borrowed time before too long, is it the hydrostat? Some have failed with 200 or less others are still running around 1000 hrs.
