compostibles Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Hey guys. I picked up a new regulator from our friends at Napa for my onan. I am reading on the web that regulators need to be polarized before using? Is this the case with the cckb onan? Or can I just plug it in and go? I only paid 70 smackers for it, so I don't want to fry it if I don't have to. thanks, jason
BLT Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 If you have a older style belt driven generator and a black regulator about the size of two packs of cigarettes with 3 or 4 screw terminals, that would need polarization. If you have a cube about 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 inches by 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick with three spades coming out, that is a plug and go. Best yet check with your Onan source for conformation.
hotrodtractor Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I doubt most guys will get the Warren G reference... nice...haha
compostibles Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Bob, you were right. I checked with my local onan service (lesmeister rv and trucking) The helpful gentleman said it wasn't necessary to repolarize. Great. I can hardly wait to get it in and start charging. I had to look up that warren g reference. Huh... I was actually quoting from that movie young guns. Charley Bowdre: "You know pigs is as smart as dogs? It's true. I knew this quy in El Capitan who taught his pig to bark at strangers."
