Has anyone installed a Brigggs Vanguard 18 hp repower kit in a 7117 ? I would like to know how it worked out and if you are satisfied.

Thanks for the info. Anyone have any experience with Small Engine Warehouse. I can find some good and bad reviews as far as dealings with them. First hand experience on this forum would mean a lot more than the stuff found on google. Let me know. Thanks

I installed an 18 hp. Vanguard from SEW in a 7117 last year. It is a good deal if you can do some fabrication work yourself. I had to do some machining on the driveshaft adapter, add an elbow to the muffler outlet, get new choke and throttle cables, adjust the governor since it was a generator engine, and got an oil filter adapter from them and notched for it since I did not want to run the engine without it. I forgot to mention that the 18 hp. Vanguard really runs nice in it. It has more torque and power than the KT17. Tom

I loved the smoothness and power of the vanguard.. started better than any command I have ever had. Sips fuel would be my choice for a repower if I had to. Its also small and light. Too bad I just sold the machine and engine for $1800.

I have bought 2 engines from Small Engine Warehouse. I have never had any problems with them.

I repowered mine using a 21 HP Kawasaki engine purchased from Small Engine Warehouse. The installation is smooth and not machining modifications necessary. Small engine warehouse will set up the wiring and give you the necessary throttle and choke cable replacements in their kit. They will change the engine of choice when the run out, but their website will show you what kits they have available. However, when I was looking at the Kawasaki engine I also noticed that Jims Repair / Jims Tractor web site also had a Briggs Vanguard 18HP repower kit for my 7117. I had to email him to find out which engine he had available and price. For some reason I chose the Kawasaki over the Briggs Vanguard, but cant remember why.
