I have attached a few pics of a earth plow and am asking,,,,do I have it set up correctly ? I plow about 8 feet and it is so deep into the ground that the tractor stops pulling it and i stop. Have to reverse lift the plow and then move forward. Thnx for any comments

http://www.brinly.com/manuals/Brinly-Products/BH-Ground-Engaging/PP-1200BH_PP-51BH/L-1043_PP-510BH.pdf My guess is that you are plowing too deep. The manual will apply to the plow in question. Follow the directions in there. You have to set the plow in the proper hole when you put it on the hitch adapter. Make your adjustments one at a time. Do not over adjust the plow depth. The plow shouldn't sink into the groung more than 5 inches. The furrow will be 10" wide, thus a 10" plow. The furrow will be half as deep as it is wide.

No rust on the face of the plow, shiny-rrrr the better and you will have less dirt stickin to it.

Thx for all the great info. After reading I learned that having the left wheels in the furrow is wrong lol lol. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I will try the new setup, thnx all for the help.

Herm, LOL yeah, the right side tires run in the previous furrow. Also, you can remove the coulter if you are not breaking sod. I sanded the face of the plow too. A coat of grease will keep rust away during long term storage.

As he mentioned earlier, grease will work. But we had better luck using the cheapest Wal-mart silver paint on the face of the moldboards (I want to say $0.96), so that it will scour well the next time we use it. Just be sure not to use primer! That stuff is too hard to scour off and it will do a terrible job turning over the dirt.

Maybe it's all the sand and rocks around here, but any rust I ever had on mine was gone in short order once I started plowing with it... I've pulled basketball sized rocks out of the ground with mine. If you check the archives I'm sure there are some pics of what I've managed to do with the plow and the Putt Putt.
