I've got a 1973 T16H. 48" deck similar to the decks on the Allis 400 series. The belt that drives the deck by going around the front PTO is smoked. I don't have any pieces. I have no numbers or dimensions and have no clue what belt to purchase. I'm usually a pretty good googler but no answers so far. Does anyone happen to know what I could do? I have the original owners manual but there are no part numbers or guidance for the deck. Thanks ahead of time for ANY info.

Is it in one piece? You could take to TSC and have them measure it. Get a kevlar belt. I doubt you will find a Simplicity dealer that has it since it was made by Allis, but the may.

The deck drive belt for a A/C made Homelite (front electric PTO to deck) is part #108508 which is now #1713515, the same 78.1" belt used to drive the Simplicity left discharge 48" decks from the center PTO on the 7100 series tractors. The above belt works for the older Homelite idler assembly that looks like this:

Later manufactured A/C built Homelites used a different idler assembly and I'm not sure if the belt is the same. Somewhere on the site there are pics of the other style idler assembly. Also electronic copies of some of the Homelite operating and parts manuals were available on the Simplicity web site; I have copies I can email you.

Woo Hoo! You nailed it PhanDad. Thank you very much. I would go XOXOXO but wouldn't want the wife to get any ideas. This really is great info for me. The belt shredded last fall and what pieces were left apparently discarded.
