Chain harrow

I know this is the wrong club for the tractor, but this new chain harrow I bought can be pulled by any large frame Simplicity and it gets work done, big time. Here is a pic of what it looks like:

For those interested here's a couple pics of a three point adapter and some hillbilly engineering.

Here's some results after a few early passes. The capabilities of this chain harrow to contour terrain are amazing. I worked for several hours after this picture because a constant, light rain fell which made the dirt perfect to work and I re-contoured the hill you see and blended it into a gentle transition to the flat terrain. I stuck the backhoe straight out the back to act as "suitcase weights" as I backed up the hill dragging the chain harrow. The harrow doesn't look like it, but I believe it weighs 400-500 pounds.

Anyway, you can tow this chain harrow with almost any large frame Simplicity or A/C GT. This particular chain harrow consists of two sections. Each section harrows 4 inches deep in one direction and 2 inches deep pulled the other way. Flipped over each section smoothes. So you can, say, have the first section set for 2" and flip the second section over and link it to the forward section to after smooth, for working broadcast seed into the soil and smoothing over in one operation. Edited: Thank you Maynard!

Hmmm...can't see the pics for some reason.

Yep, so I see. They went out OK elsewhere. They loaded OK.

The problem is file names. Spaces and symbols do not work.

That could be pretty handy...

Gives me a hillbilly idea. I remember seeing an old bed frame at a dump with a sort of steel mesh mattress support. Could weld on a few spikes on the tube ends to cut the soil and put some rocks on the springs and drag it behind. I've heard old steel mesh fencing can be used too. Not as effective as the one in these pictures, but could be helpful.

A scrap of chain link fence is what I use to bed seed. Not as good as one with some spikes would be but it does my need. Your place is looking sharp Jonathon. See you have plenty of lift with the bobcat.:)
