AC 312 back together & EZ steering!

I was a little skeptical about this somewhat strange machine at first, but it won me over, They look little but they're not, and the 312 accomodates my 6'6" quite comfortably. The large wheel and real steering box with a lower ratio makes for easy steering. And I love the tool tray - hope it doesn't need it! Getting to like variables too this is #3. I had to completely rebuild fuel and ignition, and a new seat, but the tractor seams just fine. Going to have to fine tune the variable, I think. The seller misled me on 2 counts: He said the battery was junk, but it turned it over without charging, and he said it smoked, it does, just a puff of black when you load it. I also emailed him, and he is sending me the missing side cover and catch for under the gas tank. I went a long ways for it, but I got my moneys worth. Hope to find some attachments but... not real likely. I have a serviceble 48" deck from a 6200 serie Simplicity. I've heard they can be easily adapted to the 300/400 series. Nice machine. I saw a picture here somewhere where someone had put an FDT PTO one one of these and used a regular 42" deck. If I remember right they had to drill only one or two holes.

Nice looking machine! The 300's and 400's are my favorite machines, they just look very heavy and built tough.

The roll of paper towels in the tool box looks like an invitation for a mouse to make a nest in the engine compartment! Nice looking tractors though. I'm more fond of the one one the trailer since that's a newer version of my 917H, plus it has power steering.

I'm not quite sure what a shrew is. The paper towels and everything in the tray was just to show scale, These guys keep my place entirely free of all rodents, they do such a good job my .22 hardly gets used anymore.

[/quote] they are some interesting little buggers. tiny just like a mouse. i had one in my garage last year. i left him alone and he disappeared. had my mouse dog curious thou. the dog sniff around under the bench's and would watch him when it came out but didn't go after it like it was a mouse. must have been the different sent. atleast they are not a rodent and they dont crap where they sleep like them nasty mice. Shrews are fiercely territorial, driving off rivals and will eat salamanders and mice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Short-tailed_Shrew

Larry, if you want headlights, you can remove the plate on the front and the holes are already cut to bolt the round 7100 type sealed beam lights right into the hood. I had a set of lights from a 410 that I sold to someone who did just that.

Thanks, I had looked at the grill and wondered if stock lights would fit. I think they look much better with headlights. hmmm, another reason to partd my dead 6216v maybe...
