Amazing. I am sure its just a seal but has anyone replaced it? My tractor has been flawless and then it started leaking out of the blue today. Wondering if anyone has done this repair and if they know what I need. Pic is evident... I am going to sell this one after a 8-10 year run with her! I can switch pumps if needed but it is strong and a seal would be much easier.

Shaft and Trunnion Seals Lip type seals are used throughout the transmission. These seals can be replaced without disassembly of the transmission, however, replacement of either the input or output seal requires removal of the transmission from the tractor. See Figure 17. Pry the seal carefully out of the housing bore, using care not to distort the housing or damage the bore of shaft. Once removed, the seal is not reusable. Prior to installing the new seal, polish the shaft extension, wrap it in thin plastic and lubricate with hydraulic oil to insure that the seal is not damaged during assembly Slide the seal over the shaft and press it into the housing bore. In the case of trunnion shaft seals it is necessary that the retaining rings and washers be removed before removing the seals. The washer should be replaced if it is noticeably bent or distorted. OK, I found that in the manual and it is neither the input or output so it should be a easy fix! Now just need to find the part number... Anyone? This is my downfall...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone sell rebuild kits for these transmissions and or pumps?

I ordered the seal from the dealer. I guess hydraulic shops can still rebuild them...

I replaced the rear trunnion seal on my "Jersey" 7116 several years back. It was straight forward: remove snap ring and washer; carefully drill 2 small holes 180 deg apart on old seal; thread sheet metal screws into the holes; pop out the old seal; deburr shaft; install new seal. You can see this post, but from what you wrote above, you already found the instructions: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=70275&SearchTerms=trunnion Never did figure out what keeps the shaft from pulling out, but it didn't.

Thanks Bill, that was my fear! It does look pretty straight forward...

I still don't understand the "however, replacement of either the input or output seal requires removal of the transmission from the tractor." statement. I have replaced an input shaft seal and there was absolutely n reason to remove the trans. It was a realtively simple fix.

Ahh, yes Brett, "buy you were inverted!" Sorry, a little top gun humor!:D

I removed the seal and replaced on the fan side of one of mine without removing from tractor as well.
