DavidinNashua Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I'm new to the club, and want to know if this is the appropriate place to be for discussion and inquiry? I purchased a 7 HP Allis Chalmers Snow Thrower in 1970. A couple of years later, I noticed that Simplicity took over the design, and so I made sure to order parts manuals for the snow blower and engine. I replaced the Briggs & Straton engine with a short block after about 15 years, and am thinking about replacing the entire engine again. (Please do not be offended, but I'm looking at a 11 HP Honda knock-off). However, I see that the oil seal on the left axle (looking from the handles) is leaking, but I do not know: 1. If the seal can be removed without disassembling the transmission? 2. Where to go to get Allis Chalmer parts, if I need them? 3. If parts are still available? 4. What is the Simplicity model number that equates to my unit? I think that bearings and seals should be relatively standard, and available at stores that specialize in them, but other parts are specialized, and may not still be be available. Can someone in this forum or another help with my questions?

DavidinNashua Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Am I in the wrong group to get answers about my Allis Chalmers snow thrower? If so, do you know what group I should be joining? Thanks. David
KSever Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 David, This posting would get more attention if it was posted in Talking Tractors. If you edit your original post you can change the forum it's posted in to Talking Tractors. I don't have moderator rights in this forum or I would do it for you.
