I have been trying to get a rear pto for my Legacy diesel with no luck at all in trying to find the gear box for it, so..... I have a new idea for a hydraulic motor used with the rear hydraulic kit for the Legacy, and would like the opinion of some of the hydraulic experts on here as to wheather my thinking is correct (there's always a first time ya know!) Here's the motor on ebay with specs. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400214445820&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT and the rear hydraulic kit is Mfg.# 1694122 also on ebay. I will have to make or order the mounting bracket, but I will save a lot by not buying a gear box and electric clutch, This should also work on Sunstars as the transaxles are the same. Any thoughts or guidance will be appreciated.

You'll need a pump to drive that PTO motor, a tank to store the oil, and a cooling system to cool it. The existing hydrostatic transmission pump and system won't work -- they're not sized to do that... Then figure that hydraulic systems are only about 80% efficient, at best, and figure out how much HP you can put to that PTO. The Kohler CH-25 in my Power Trac with a dedicated PTO pump that puts out 8 GPM at 2500 PSI delivers about 10HP to the powered implement -- not much.... You might want to condsider a belt-driven setup, if you can't come up with the mechanical drive one....
