I decided to repower my Simplicity 9020 I bought 1 year ago which has a 19 1/2hp Onan to a new 23hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard. I bought this motor which has a conversion kit (motor mount, muffler, wire plug) the original wiring has been spliced (everything worked) but wired have been replaced with light cord and so on. I'd like to know if anyone's done this conversion and what I'll need to do when wiring. New motor has 3 wires going to a plug (blue, purple,& red. Blue connect to starter solenoid of original equipment. Purple connects to to regulator of original equipment. This wire should only have voltage when the key is in the run position only.Red connect to the power wire that connected to the coil of original equipment. This wire should have power in the start and run positions. Is there anything else I'm missing?

You might want to call or email smallenginewarehouse and ask them if they can give you a tip on wiring. They used a 23HP Briggs ES for repower rather than the Vanguard, but I bet the wiring conversion they had to do to make it ready for install was simillar. Check out there website for the repower engine of choice for the 9020: http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/RepowerItems.asp?Brand=Simplicity&Model=9020 That 9020 is a nice tractor to have. MR
